Kime Buzzelli ARTWORK
THE BANQUET: anniversary party in Brooklyn + my ART June 5th
theBANQUET boutique, located at 360 Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, is pleased to announce that they will be hosting a party on June 5th to celebrate their one year anniversary, featuring an installation of the Los Angeles based artist Kime Buzzelli’s work.“We’ve been fans and collectors of Kime’s for years and are so honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with her in our own shop. It has been such an incredible year and we couldn’t think of anyone better to help us celebrate.“
The event will feature a playful spread of Buzzelli’s dreamy, whimsical portraits, limited edition Plume bow belts and candy inspired necklaces, and Miranda Bennett’s Lady Luck Dress, designed just for the occasion, all in Buzzelli inspired colors and fabrics. Floral elements will be styled by the Brooklyn based duo, Quatre Ceour. Handmade linen napkins by theBANQUET and Kime Buzzelli, will also be available for purchase.
For the evening only, a discount of 20% will be offered on Bennett and Johnston's Buzzelli inspired pieces.
This will mark Buzzelli’s first show in New York City in some time and her first collaboration with both Bennett and Johnston.
The Banquet is the collaboration of designers and friends Miranda Bennett and Pamela Johnston. The store exclusively houses Bennett's women's clothing line, Miranda Bennett Design, and Johnston's jewelry collection, Plume. Together the pair also select seasonal themes for their Archive line of vintage clothing, books, and home goods (currently they are exploring an Annie Hall theme).
The Banquet name borrows from the idea of a communal, celebratory feast, much like the salons of the early 20th century. The pair have borrowed from this concept both with their monthly dinner parties where they converse with friends from the design and arts community, and in their approach to merchandising the store in the style of a lavish buffet. On any given day, one will find either Johnston or Bennett hosting customers in the shop.
The party will be held Saturday, June 5th from 6 – 9 pm at theBANQUET, 360 Atlantic Avenue b/t Hoyt & Bond in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Champagne and treats will be served.
Please RSVP to or at 718 522 6906.

La Luz de Jesus Erotic Toy Art show May 13th
April Flores’ Love Toy is Canvas for Eight World-Renown Artists in Single Night Gallery Show!

La Luz de Jesus presents a unique, one-night-only exhibit featuring limited-edition artist renditions of leading Big Beautiful Women (BBW) star April Flores’ Voluptuous Love Toy. Eight, world-renown, Los Angeles-based artists are designing one-of-a-kind creations, using plaster molds of the April Flores toy as their canvas. Participating artists include Axis, Carlos Batts, Coop, Jim Mahfood, Kime Buzzelli, Kozyndan, Misha, and Small Paul. The exhibit will take place on May 13th at La Luz de Jesus Gallery, and will be guest curated by Carlos Batts.

“Creative interpretations of the female anatomy are fundamental to art,” explains Carlos Batts, Curator. “Specifically, this project was inspired by the irony of Jeff Koons’ work and the playfulness of the Dunny movement, as well as by April herself. In this exhibit, April provides the blank canvas on which each artist has the opportunity to express his or her vision.”

April Flores’ popularity, visibility, and name recognition ensure hearty demand for a piece of her. The eight April Flores pieces will be unveiled for the first time, and made available for sale, on the evening of the event. Each artist will invoke his or her signature style in designing a one-of-a-kind creation.

Axis is a provocative graphic illustrator and graffiti artist known for his bold images.

Carlos Batts is an accomplished film director, producer, and artist, who claims April Flores as his muse.

Known for smoking devils and outrageous monsters adorning everything from t-shirts to skate boards and album covers, Coop is an integral part of the subversive LA art scene.

Jim Mahfood is a prolific comic book artist and member of the prestigious new Artsprojekt.

Kim Buzzelli combines fashion, music and witchcraft to design evocative paintings, illustrations and installations.

The mad-scientist pairing of Kozyndan results in unforgettable graphic designs, hip clothing and the Bunnyfish.

Misha is equally famous for her Large Eye, Japanese-inspired takes on famous figures and her brilliantly detailed tattoo art.

New Wave rocker and artist Small Paul has left his mark on countless celebrities as a highly sought after tattoo artist.

“Celebrating my phenomenal, new Toy with all these amazing artists in the flourishing LA art scene is a dream come true,” states April Flores. “I am so excited and honored by this event and, I promise, the unveiling of the pieces is going to be a must-see!”

The unique April Flores Toy Exhibit will take place on Wednesday, May 13th, 2009, from 7 - 9 p.m. It is open to the public. No reservations are necessary. The artists are expected to attend.
